Derrygonnelly Harps Present ‘The Brawl in the Hall’ Sponsored by Diamond Cabs

The seconds are out and it is almost time for the bell to ring as the brave souls from Derrygonnelly Harps and other clubs throughout Fermanagh submit themselves to the terror of ‘The Brawl in the Hall’ for the entertainment of the masses in the confines of the boxing ring with neither a red nor a yellow card to be seen.

In a major fundraiser for Derrygonnelly Harps, 22 boxers from Derrygonnelly, Derrylin, Kinawley, Coa, Devenish and Tempo will dump the GAA jersey and put on a pair of boxing gloves and a badly needed head guard to have a go at amateur boxing. It all takes place this Saturday in Derrygonnelly Community Centre with the help of Derrylin Boxing club mentors Sean Crowley and Aidan Kelly who have given all the boxers full training and expert advice before sending them into the ring to do battle.

Bouts have been confirmed and some really are mouth watering:

Devenish’s ‘Gentleman’ John O’Flanagan squares up with Derrygonnelly’s ‘Desperate’ Daniel Maguire

Another derby match will be in store when Kinawley’s Darren ‘The Scrapper’ Owens competes with Derrylin’s Patrick ‘The Machine’ Gunn for bragging rights

Coa and Fermanagh star Eoin ‘The Liberator’ Donnelly is up against Conall ‘The Pony Express’ Jones

Kinawley star Matthew ‘Big Bang’ Drumm facing the wrath of John ‘Big Bad’ Murphy

While Derrygonnelly team mates and best friends Eugene ‘The Quiet Assassin’ McManus squares up to Stephen ‘The Even Quieter Assassin’ McGullion

And Tempo and Fermanagh player Aidan ‘Lights Out’ Breen will have to be at his best as he faces Chris ‘Pretty Boy’ Brennan.

There is plenty more fights and organiser of the event is Derrygonnelly Harps man Francis McKenna who promises “a great night out” for everyone who attends.

“I was at last year’s Brewster Brawl and it really was an excellent night. That then gave us the idea and so far the training has been very intense for all the boxers but it is a chance of a lifetime for them all and they are really looking forward to it.”

Here is the Fight Night lineup.
