Fundraising event Sunday 31st May Nepal Earthquake Appeal

On Saturday 25th April many of you should be aware of the powerful earthquake which hit Nepal, leaving devastation in its wake. More than 7,000 people have been confirmed dead with many more still trapped underneath rubble. Millions across the Himalayan state as well as India are affected through injury, loss of homes and livelihood or mourning the loss of loved ones.

As part of our Christian response the four local churches in our community met last week where they are now planning to hold a joint soup lunch on Sunday 31st May at 12.45pm in Derrygonnelly Community Centre.

In a joint message from Revd Sampson Ajuka, Mr Gareth Hayden, Fr. Jimmy McPhillips and Canon David Skuce they have urged church members to give generously to help the eight million people who have been affected by the earthquake. We pray that those responding on the ground will gain access to the resources that they need to bring hope and healing to the affected areas.

In response to this disaster the four ministers are asking all our churches to unite together and contribute the cost of their Sunday lunch towards Tearfund who are presently out in Nepal responding to this crisis.
