It has undoubtedly been quite a busy week for many of you with the schools starting back up in the area after the summer break. Focus normally are on uniforms, bus times, lunch boxes, and so on. Practical things. We are very lucky where we live, that every child is given the right to free schooling and a safe upbringing, and our children are allowed to be ambitious about their future. There are places in this world where this is not a given. Regardless of colour, faith or religion, please spare a thought to the ongoing plight of the migrants and those poor children and parents who are suffering so much going through hardships unimaginable.
You only have to look at todays papers to see the heartbreaking images of Syrian children found drowned in the Mediterranean Sea.  Please see link below for news story:-


End of Summer Party on Sunday 6th September

The Derrygonnelly Community Centre are hosting an End of Summer Party on Sunday from 2.30pm – 6pm. There will be face painting, a fancy dress competition, best dressed teddy bear, dog show, barbeque and mini bingo to name but a few.
Admission is £2.50, with pre-schoolers free of
charge. All children must be accompanied by a parent.
Everyone is welcome.

FODC – Launch Of Outdoor Fitness Challenge Programme

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council has launched details of a new health and exercise initiative, ‘Outdoor Fitness Challenge Programme’ for the Fermanagh area.  The 12 week programme, which started on Sunday 23 August 2015, has been funded under the Public Health Agency’s (PHA) Healthy Towns Programme. The programme will be delivered by Fermanagh & Omagh District Council coaches who will provide professional training, support and advice.  The ‘Outdoor Fitness Challenge’ programme is aimed primarily at people who are inactive and who find taking exercise difficult. The programme focuses on building up physical activity in a gradual and healthy way and integrating it into an everyday routine.

The outdoor fitness challenge programme will use 3 Outdoor Gym facilities and recreation areas around County Fermanagh for physical activity sessions.  Sessions will be delivered on Sundays in Enniskillen at the Round ‘O’ at 11.00 am, Derrygonnelly at 1.00 pm and Belcoo at 3.00 pm.  Sessions will last an hour and a half.  Participants will be admitted to the programme only after completing a health screening assessment.

Derrygonnelly Community Centre are hosting an end of summer party on Sunday 6th September from 2.30pm until 6pm. There will be a face painting, bouncy castles, a barbeque, barrell stacking and a fancy dress competition to name but a few. Admission is £2.50 with pre-schoolers free of charge. The Whistlin’ Donkeys are performing live in the Community Centre on Friday 11th September. Doors open at 10pm. Go to the Community Centre facebook page to win free entrance.


Derrygonnelly 10k or 5k run or walk, Saturday 19th September, Tir Navar
Registration opens at 10am at Tir Navar. 10k £10 / 5k £5.
