It has truly been a week of ups and downs in our community. We saw yet another successful year for the FEAR event, however on the flip-side we got the devastating news of a loss of life that rocked the core of our community. It was powerful to see people coming together to grieve the loss of one of the driving forces in our community; a man tirelessly working with and for the people. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Damian McGovern RIP.
The third year running, FEAR (Fermanagh Endurance Adventure Race) was the biggest yet with a record number of contestants. Thank you to all the volunteers on the day for providing invaluable support to both the organisers and the contestants. Fore more pictures from the event, click here.
Duncan Hugo Show in the Community Centre
Duncan Hugo and Fr D’Arcy hosted a live broadcast celebrating Radio Ulster’s 40th Birthday in the Derrygonnelly Community Centre on Friday 2nd October. The Community Centre was packed out, and the audience was treated to performances by both Country and Irish Music artists. The Community Centre was buzzing, as you can see in the video below:

DARD Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme PHASE 2
The Rural Micro Capital Programme 2015 has been developed to provide rural, community-
led, voluntary organisations with the opportunity to avail of financial assistance towards the purchase of equipment or completion of minor capital works that can contribute to alleviating poverty and / or social isolation.
A second round of the DARD Rural Micro Capital Grant funding programme will be open for applications from Monday 5th October 2015 until noon on Friday 30th October 2015.
Grant support of between £200 (minimum) and £1,500 (maximum) are available to eligible rural groups. The total project cost must not exceed £3,000.
Projects must clearly address an issue of rural poverty and / or social isolation and applicants must provide a minimum of 15% match funding.
The Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme will be delivered by Local Rural Support Networks on behalf of DARD.
Within the Fermanagh and Omagh Area the programme is being delivered by Fermanagh Rural Community Network and Omagh Forum for Rural Associations on behalf ofDARD.

30th Anniversary of Eddie Duffy & Mick Hoy Memorial Traditional Misic Festival
This annual music festival kicks off on Friday 9th October with an opening concert featuring no less than four of this year’s All-Ireland Fleadh winners, and also the crowning of the new ‘Maid of Carrick’. Saturday 10th October will see a Family Fun Day, a vintage car display, music sessions in the local pubs and and a sets ceili with music provided by “The Long Note” Ceili Band. On Sunday it all spills out onto the streets, with local and visiting musicians entertaining. For the full programme click here.
DDCP Monthly Meeting, Monday 12th October, Time & Venue to be confirmed
Derrygonnelly & District Community Partnership hold a meeting every second Monday of the month in the various venues in Derrygonnelly. Here we meet up to discuss how we would like our area to develop, funding opportunities, current issues and upcoming projects and events, etc.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone to come along to the meetings and have a say in the future of our village.
Monster Bingo, Sunday 18th October, Derrygonnelly Community Centre
Bingo returns to Derrygonnelly on Sunday 18th October at 3pm. £1000 jackpot must go plus loads of other cash prizes. Everyone welcome.

“50 Shades of Acres”, Thursday 29th October, Derrygonnelly Community Centre
A runaway success at the Lady of the Lake Festival earlier this year, Irvinestown Amateur Dramatic Society are putting on a one-off performance for us in Derrygonnelly on Thursday 29th October at 7.30pm.

‘Get to Know Your Neighbours’, Sunday 25th October, Four Local Churches
As part of our working together, the clergy from our four local churches are organising a ‘Get to know your neighbour’ event on Sunday 25th October.
We will all meet at Springfield Methodist Church at 2.30pm. After this we will then go to Devenish Parish Church in Monea. We will then go to St Patrick’s Church in Derrygonnelly and finish our visit in Inishmacsaint Parish church where there will be light refreshments.
Switching on the Christmas Lights and Christmas Fair, Thursday 10th December, Main Street & Community Centre
Our annual Christmas family event will take place on Thursday 10th December.
