Weekly Blog, Thursday 12th November
The autumn has descended upon us with all its might, and dare I say that the festive season is just around the corner (six weeks tomorrow – eek!). DDCP Committee members are meeting up on Saturday 5th December at 9am to put up the village christmas tree and the festive lights in time for our switching on the lights event on Thursday 10th December. We would be very grateful for volunteers to come out and give a helping hand – all who help will be treated to a luxurious, not-to-be-missed cooked breakfast in the Methodist Church afterwards!
We would like to extend our special thanks to Siobhan Hodgson who last week organised a Boden event in her shop Lotions and Potions, and she has so far raised £180 to go towards the village’s festive lights. She will also be organising a Miglio pop-up shop (South African Jewellry – excellent gift ideas – hint hint!) on Saturday 21st November in her shop, again in aid of the festive lights. Siobhan will indeed make Derrygonnelly a brighter village this Christmas. Everyone welcome.
Also again a very well done to Mary Rutledge and the Churchill Ladies who featured in the local papers this week, donating the proceeds of their Derrygonnelly 5k/10k event to the Oisin McGrath Foundation, Horizon West Children’s Service and St John’s Ambulance Service. Well done to you all, and we look forward to next year’s event.
