Weekly Blog, Thursday 3rd December

“Remember, Remember, the 10th of December!”

We were delighted to visit the pre-school children in Bunnahone Bunnies last week. The children spoke about what they are getting for Christmas and how they are looking forward to this year’s Christmas lights switch on. Thanks to all the children for taking part and to all the staff who made us so welcome. We hope you enjoy viewing this video.

Bunnahone Bunnies scores ‘Excellent’ in ETI Inspection

bunnahone bunnies logoWe would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the staff and management committee of Bunnahone Bunnies Cross-Community Playgroup. The ETI (Education Training Inspectorate) carried out an inspection of the Playgroup on Wednesday 30th September of this year and we are delighted to hear that the playgroup was awarded two Outstanding and one Very Good marks. This means that they have deemed our playgroup to have “a high level of capacity for sustained improvement in the interest of all learners.”

The purpose of an ETI inspection is to promote the highest possible standards of education, and to tell all those who need to know, such as the parents, the Department of Education (DE) and the Government, about the quality of the education being provided and about what needs to be changed if improvements are required. These inspections are carried out every five years or so.

The inspectors evaluate the quality of education provided for the children in their pre-school year and assess things like whether the individual children’s needs are met; the working relationships between staff and children; and whether the centre ensures the care, welfare and protection of the children, among other things. The report has not yet been published on the ETI website, however we will post a link to it as soon as we can.

Bunnahone Bunnies is going from strength to strength with a good number of children each school year, both of PEAGs and part-time spaces. The playgroup has also recently been added to the Partnership’s Village Plan, having been identified as an essential facility in our community in need of an extension to meet current playgroup standards.

Once again, a big well done and well deserved to Bunnahone Bunnies!

Thank you!

We would like to extend our warm and sincere thanks to local lady Siobhan Hodgson who have raised £185 towards new festive lights for the village through organising and hosting two pop-up shops in her Lotions and Potions in November. Thank you Siobhan – you’ve made the village a brighter place this Christmas!

thank you

Inter Churches Community Carol Service

imageThis year the churches forum are holding their annual community carol service on Tuesday 15th Dec at 7.30pm in Derrygonnelly Community Centre. All the church choirs and the three local Primary Schools, Derrygonnelly PS, St Patricks Derrygonnelly and Killyhommon, Boho will be taking part in the service.

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Derek Hall from TEARFUND who wishes to thank the community for their support in raising funds through a soup lunch that was held in April of this year which raised £5,762.91 in aid of the Nepal Earthquake appeal. There will also be a retiring collection which will go towards the Children’s Hospice in Killadeas.

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to the community to join us for this our second Christmas carol service. There will be light refreshments after the service.

There will also be a joint choir practice for all the church choirs which will be held on Monday 14th December at 8pm in Derrygonnelly Primary School. We would ask as many of our choirs attend this practice
