Fermanagh & Omagh Sports Forum Sports Awards

Sporting talent from across the Fermanagh and Omagh district was celebrated at the 2015 Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum Sports Awards on Friday 19 February 2016 in Mahon’s Hotel, Irvinestown.

The Awards, which are organised in partnership with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, recognise and celebrate local sports men and women, individuals and teams, for outstanding sporting performance in 2015.

The winner of the Service to Sport Award was Derrygonnelly Harps man Hugh Kelly. Congratulations to both the Club and Mr Kelly.

An Evening of Conversation with Bryan Gallagher on Friday 11th March

The Church Hill Silver Band are hosting an Evening of Conversation with Bryan Gallagher CHSBin the Band Hall in Church Hill on Friday 11th March at 8pm. Bryan Gallagher is a retired headmaster and a regular contributor to ‘Thought of the Day’ and ‘Your Place or Mine’ on BBC Radio Ulster. He has written ‘There’ll not be a Crowd Till the Crowd Gathers’, a memoir of the Starlight Dance Band. His most recent book is ‘Barefoot in Mullyneeny’.

dfaThe evening is supported by The Reconciliation Fund, which awards grants to organisations working to build better relations within and between the traditions in Northern Ireland, the North and South, and Ireland and Britain. The band will also go to Dublin in April where they will attend a guided tour of the Boyne.


Enterprise Week commencing on Monday 29 February

The first Enterprise Week being hosted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council commences on Monday next, 29 February and runs until Friday 4 March. This important event for the local business sector is being organised in partnership with the local enterprise agencies, Omagh Enterprise Company Ltd and Fermanagh Enterprise Ltd.

Fermanagh-and-Omagh-council-logo-460x167The full programme of workshops, talks, and a conference on social enterprise, will be of huge interest to entrepreneurs starting up a business, as well as SMEs and other established businesses who want to learn and grow their business through e-commerce, digital marketing and other new media.

Events will be held at venues across the district, in many instance workshops will be offered in Omagh and repeated in Enniskillen, to facilitate local business owners.

The Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly welcomed the week-long series of events as a significant opportunity of support the growth and expansion of local businesses into the future.

Derrygonnelly & District Community Partnership hold a meeting every second Monday of the month at 8pm in the various venues in Derrygonnelly. Here we meet up to discuss how we would like our area to develop, funding opportunities, current issues and upcoming projects and events.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone in our community to come along to the meetings and have a say in the future of our village.
